Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki on Iraqi State TV said al-Zarqawi died along with seven aides Wednesday evening 6/7/06, in a house 30 miles northeast of Baghdad in the volatile province of Diyala.

There have been many roadside bombings, shootings and severed heads throughout the province.

Al-Maliki said the air strike was the result of intelligence reports provided to Iraqi security forces by residents in the area, and U.S. forces acted on the information. News reports are also saying that some of those residents giving tips included senior known associates of al-Zarqawi.

The price on his head was $25 million.

He was identified through DNA, fingerprints, and known scars.
