Healthcare Reform

New CRS Report Shows Government Already Controls 60 percent of Health Care in the U.S.

U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, M.D. (R-OK) released the following statement today regarding a new report by the non-partisan Congressional Research Service (CRS) that shows that 60 percent of health care spending in the U.S. ($1.35 trillion out of $2.24 trillion) is controlled by state, local and federal government.

I watched the Health care Senate debate tonight as Senator Coburn took the floor. He was impressive and what he was saying made so much sense. One statement he made I think sums up what many Americans are thinking - "Why destroy the world's greatest health care just to fix what is wrong?" Why indeed.

Here is the Republican legislation introduced a few months ago. It is called the Patient's Choice Act. So Democrats in the House and Senate are lying when they say that Republicans have not introduced any health care ideas. Hmmmmmmmm.

One more thing, it was voted on. Strictly down partisan lines. The Republicans voted for it and the Democrats voted against it. Something smells fishy in Washington!
